Student loans and educational loans

If you are between the ages of 18 and 44 and at the beginning of your studies, you can secure your finances (or part of it) with a KfW Student Loan. This loan can also be used to finance a second, additional, advanced or supplementary programme of study or a doctorate.

The Studierendenwerk Vorderpfalz is responsible for distributing the KfW Student Loan. In contrast to other KfW sales partners, we also advise on all other alternative financing options. The state social benefit BAföG and parental support may not be replaced by a a student loan.

The most important facts about the KfW Student Loan:

• The granting of a loan is independent of the university, subject and grades.
• The disbursement amount is between €100 and €650 per month.
• The duration of the grant depends on your age and is for a maximum of 14 semesters, for first and second degree programmes, and a maximum of six semesters for postgraduate or doctoral studies.
• Both the loan amount and the repayments may be adjusted during the term.
• Unlike a normal bank loan, you do not have to provide any collateral for the KfW Student Loan.
• You can combine the KfW Student Loan with BAföG and the Education Loan.

As part of the Federal Government's Education Loan Programme, students in advanced stages of their education can receive targeted financial support through the Education Loan - simply and at a favourable interest rate. This loan is flexible and can be adapted to your individual needs.

Some important facts about KfW's education loan:

• The granting of loans is independent of the university, subject and grades.
• The disbursement amount is either between €100, €200 or €300 per month.
• If you wish, you can apply for a one-off payment for training-related expenses.
• Second and subsequent education can also be funded.
• The educational loan is granted irrespective of your own income and assets as well as those of your parents, spouse or life partner.
• You can combine the education loan with BAföG and the KfW student loan.
